Course and Retreat

This 7 day certified meditation course teaches various methods of meditation, including seated meditation and moving meditation. The course includes working with breath control, visualisations, recuperative poses and relaxation.

This Yoga Alliance Professionals approved course entitles graduates to lead their own meditation classes.

The course is open to any yoga student or yoga teacher interested in deepening their experience and knowledge of meditation as well as teaching and leading classes. Certification also provides membership and insurance with Yoga Alliance Professionals.

Course Description

This meditation retreat offers the opportunity for deepening and expanding ones meditation experience and practice as well as teaching meditation. The course offers 3 types of seated meditation, including guided meditation, breath control and visualisation exercises. Students may sit on cushions or a chair for personal comfort.
The objective is to feel Prana or the vital force moving through the body and how to move and harness this force with intention and breath. For it is through enhanced energy flow and meditation that deeper states of awareness are also explored.

As a healthy body and mind are important for our meditation practice the course also teaches asana, recuperative asanas with props, relaxation and yoga psychology.

The course will explore the energetic links of physical and psychological imbalance through an intimate understanding of the chakras and how through meditation and yoga practice everyone is able to experience personal growth and healing at a profound level.

Meditation helps us to be quiet within ourselves and its this stillness which helps us let go and experience peace within our own being as well as feeling connected to the whole of creation.

This course is designed for everyone with an interest in meditation and yoga, but is especially interesting for yoga teachers and students who are ready to widen and deepen their meditation practice or their skills in teaching meditation. Although only regular practice can improve your meditation this course provides a fast track by concentrating on the energy flow and psychic centres.

With over 35 years of experience in several traditions Gerry will be able to guide and instruct you in both, your own meditation practice as well as your teaching abilities.

Outline and subjects covered

  1. Seated Meditation ( 2h daily)
    1. just sitting
    2. Guided
    3. With breath control
    4. Chanting and Mantras
    5. Sitting techniques (chair, cushions..), hand positions
  2. Moving Meditation (2h daily)
    1. Walking and breathing
    2. Silent walking in the mountains
    3. Sun Salutations
    4. Asana
  3. Recuperative/ Restorative Asana's and Relaxation (1h daily)
    1. Fundamental reclining and seated postures to stimulate and enhance all organ functions, chakras and meridians. These are a combination of exercises from both the Indian and Chinese cultures and have been essential health care practises in the East for millennia.
    2. Relaxation
    3. Healing exercises (includes hands on chakra work)
  4. Yoga Psychology & Philosophy (1h daily)
    1. Understanding human behaviour and character traits in relation to the energy body and chakras. A better understanding of the self both psychologically and energetically makes for a much deeper meditation practice.

Materials and Suggested reading list:

Meditation cushions and props are provided as well as yoga mats and blankets. Please bring appropriate clothing. Best plain white but plain yellow and blue clothes are ok.
A reading list will be provided on registration.


Students need to have a minimum of 40 hours yoga practice and should be able to sit comfortably, either on a cushion or chair. It is not necessary to sit cross legged.

Evaluation Procedure / Criteria

The certificate is awarded only after full completion of the course including a short written exam.

The course also includes 2 evenings from 21:00 to 23:00

The total course is 60 hours and includes 14 non contact hours, i.e. 2 hours per day; students are expected to use this time for practice and study.
